Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 20, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how SportsFlux (“SportsFlux”, “we”, “us” or “our”) collects, uses, shares and protects personal information when you visit https://sportsflux.org (the “Site”). It also explains the choices and rights available to you, including under the EU and UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (together, “CCPA”).

By using the Site, you acknowledge that you have read this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with it, please do not use the Site.

1. Who We Are

SportsFlux is an online publication providing sports news, analysis and guides. For the purposes of data protection law, SportsFlux is the controller of personal information collected through the Site, except where a third party (such as Google) acts as an independent controller, as described below. You can contact us about privacy at contact@sportsflux.org.

2. Information We Collect

Information You Provide to Us

We collect information you choose to give us, for example when you email us or use a contact form. This may include your name, email address, the content of your message and any other details you decide to share. Comments are closed on the Site, so we do not collect comment data.

Information Collected Automatically

When you visit the Site, certain information is collected automatically by our servers, our hosting provider and third-party services we use. This may include:

  • Your IP address (which may be truncated or anonymised by some services) and approximate location derived from it, such as country or city.
  • Browser type, device type, operating system, screen resolution and language settings.
  • Pages you visit, links you click, the referring website, and the date, time and duration of your visit.
  • Cookie identifiers, advertising identifiers and similar online identifiers.
  • Technical and diagnostic information, such as server logs and error reports.

Information We Do Not Knowingly Collect

We do not ask for, and do not knowingly collect, sensitive personal information such as health data, financial account details, government identifiers or precise geolocation. Please do not send us this type of information.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use personal information to:

  • Operate, maintain, secure and improve the Site and its performance.
  • Understand how visitors use the Site, so we can improve our content and user experience.
  • Display advertising, which may be personalised where you have given consent or where permitted by law.
  • Respond to your enquiries, correction requests and other messages.
  • Detect, prevent and address fraud, abuse, spam and security issues.
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms and Conditions.

4. Cookies and Similar Technologies

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. We and our partners use cookies, pixels, local storage and similar technologies (together, “cookies”) for the purposes below.

  • Strictly necessary cookies: required for the Site to function, deliver pages securely and remember your cookie preferences.
  • Performance and caching: our Site uses caching technology (LiteSpeed Cache) to load pages faster. This may set technical cookies needed to serve the correct version of a page; these are not used to profile you.
  • Analytics cookies: help us understand how visitors use the Site, such as which pages are most popular.
  • Advertising cookies: used by Google and its partners to serve ads, limit how often you see them, measure their effectiveness and, where permitted, personalise them based on your interests.

Where required by law, including for visitors in the European Economic Area (EEA), the UK and Switzerland, we ask for your consent before setting non-essential cookies. You can change or withdraw your consent at any time through the cookie consent tool on the Site, where available, or through your browser settings.

Most browsers let you block or delete cookies. If you block all cookies, some parts of the Site may not work as intended.

5. Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google, to understand how visitors find and use the Site. Google Analytics uses cookies to collect information such as the pages you visit, how long you stay and the device you use. This information is aggregated to produce reports for us and is not used by us to identify you personally.

You can learn more about how Google uses data from sites that use its services at How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services. You can prevent Google Analytics from collecting your data by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

We use Google AdSense to display advertisements on the Site. Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads on the Site. Google’s use of advertising cookies, including the DoubleClick cookie, enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this Site and/or other sites on the internet.

Third-party vendors and ad networks working with Google may also place and read cookies on your browser, or use web beacons and IP addresses, to collect information as a result of ad serving on the Site.

You can find out more about how Google uses cookies in advertising at Google’s advertising policies page. You can opt out of personalised advertising from Google by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalised advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info or, in Europe, www.youronlinechoices.eu.

If you opt out of personalised advertising, you may still see ads on the Site, but they will be less relevant to you.

If you are in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, we process your personal information only where we have a legal basis to do so. These are:

  • Consent: for non-essential cookies, analytics and personalised advertising where consent is required. You can withdraw consent at any time without affecting processing that took place before withdrawal.
  • Legitimate interests: to operate, secure and improve the Site, to respond to your messages and to prevent abuse, where these interests are not overridden by your rights.
  • Legal obligation: where we must process information to comply with applicable law.
  • Contract: where processing is necessary to take steps at your request, such as discussing a partnership or contribution.

8. How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information for money. We share personal information only as follows:

  • Service providers: companies that help us run the Site, including our web hosting provider (Hostinger), caching and performance tools, our SEO plugin (Rank Math) and email services. They may process data only on our instructions or as needed to provide their services.
  • Analytics and advertising partners: Google and its partners, as described in sections 5 and 6.
  • Legal and safety reasons: where required by law, court order or to protect the rights, property or safety of SportsFlux, our readers or others.
  • Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition or sale of all or part of the Site, subject to this Privacy Policy.

9. International Data Transfers

Our service providers, including Google and our hosting provider, may process information in countries other than your own, including the United States. Where we or our providers transfer personal data from the EEA, UK or Switzerland, we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses or adequacy decisions, where applicable.

10. Data Retention

We keep personal information only for as long as necessary for the purposes described in this policy, unless a longer period is required or permitted by law.

  • Emails and contact messages: generally kept for up to 24 months after our last correspondence, unless needed longer to resolve a matter or meet a legal obligation.
  • Server logs: kept for a limited period for security and troubleshooting, in line with our hosting provider’s practices.
  • Analytics data: retained according to the retention settings we configure in Google Analytics, after which it is automatically deleted.
  • Cookies: each cookie has its own expiry period. You can delete cookies at any time in your browser.

11. Your Privacy Rights

Rights Under the GDPR

If you are in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you.
  • Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information.
  • Request deletion of your personal information.
  • Restrict or object to certain processing, including processing based on legitimate interests.
  • Receive your information in a portable format.
  • Withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent.
  • Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

Rights Under the CCPA (California Residents)

If you are a California resident, you have the right to:

  • Know what categories and specific pieces of personal information we collect, use and disclose.
  • Request deletion of personal information we have collected from you, subject to certain exceptions.
  • Request correction of inaccurate personal information.
  • Opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information, including sharing for cross-context behavioural advertising.
  • Limit the use of sensitive personal information (we do not knowingly collect it).
  • Not be discriminated against for exercising your privacy rights.

Our use of advertising cookies may be considered “sharing” under the CCPA. You can opt out by adjusting your cookie preferences on the Site where available, using Google Ads Settings, or enabling a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal in a supported browser, which we will treat as an opt-out request where required by law.

In the preceding 12 months, the categories of personal information collected through the Site have included identifiers (such as IP addresses and cookie IDs), internet or network activity information, approximate geolocation and, where you contact us, the information you provide.

Other Regions

Residents of other US states and other countries may have similar rights under local law. We will honour applicable requests wherever you live.

How to Exercise Your Rights

To make a request, email us at contact@sportsflux.org with the subject line “Privacy Request”. We may need to verify your identity before responding, and we will reply within the time required by applicable law. You may use an authorised agent to submit a request on your behalf, subject to verification.

12. Children’s Privacy

The Site is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, or from children under 16 in the EEA, UK and other regions where a higher age of digital consent applies. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at contact@sportsflux.org and we will delete it promptly.

The Site contains links to external websites, such as official governing bodies, competition organisers and affiliate partners. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those websites. We encourage you to read the privacy policy of any site you visit.

14. Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information, including encrypted HTTPS connections and access controls on our systems. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

15. Do Not Track

Some browsers send “Do Not Track” signals. Because there is no common industry standard for responding to these signals, the Site does not currently respond to them. We do honour Global Privacy Control signals as described above where required by law.

16. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology or legal requirements. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Where changes are significant, we may provide additional notice on the Site. Please review this page periodically.

17. Contact Us

If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy or how we handle your personal information, please email us at contact@sportsflux.org or visit our contact page.
