Editorial Policy

Last updated: October 20, 2026

SportsFlux exists to help fans understand sport clearly and accurately. This editorial policy explains how we research, write, check, correct and update our content, and how we keep our journalism independent. It applies to all news, analysis, explainers and guides published on https://sportsflux.org.

Our Editorial Principles

  • Accuracy: we get the facts right before we publish.
  • Clarity: we explain sport in plain English for a global audience.
  • Independence: commercial interests never decide what we cover or what we conclude.
  • Transparency: we are open about how we work, including when we make mistakes.
  • Fairness: we treat athletes, teams and organisations fairly and avoid sensationalism.

Accuracy and Fact-Checking

Every article is checked before publication. Facts such as rules, regulations, results, dates, records and statistics are verified against reliable sources. Time-sensitive information, such as fixtures, regulations and calendars, is checked against the most current official information available at the time of writing.

If we cannot verify a claim to our satisfaction, we leave it out. We do not publish invented statistics, fabricated quotes or speculation presented as fact. Where information is unconfirmed or still developing, we say so clearly.

Sourcing

We prioritise primary and authoritative sources, including:

  • Official governing bodies and rule-makers, such as The IFAB, the ICC, FIBA, the ITF and the FIA.
  • Official league, tournament and team websites and published statements.
  • Recognised scientific and professional bodies for fitness and training content.
  • Reputable news organisations, which we credit when we rely on their reporting.

Where it helps readers check our work, we link to the original source. We do not copy other publishers’ content, and we attribute information that is not our own.

Corrections Policy

We make mistakes occasionally, and we take them seriously. When an error is identified, we:

  1. Review the issue promptly against reliable sources.
  2. Correct the content as soon as possible if it is inaccurate.
  3. Add a note to the article explaining what was corrected when the error was significant, such as a factual mistake that changed the meaning of the content.
  4. Fix minor issues, such as typos or formatting, without a note where they do not affect meaning.

To report an error, email contact@sportsflux.org with the page URL, the issue and, if possible, a source supporting the correction. Correction requests are prioritised, and you can find more details on our contact page.

Independence and Disclosure

SportsFlux is funded by advertising and, in some cases, affiliate commissions. Our editorial decisions are made independently of these commercial relationships.

  • We do not accept payment in exchange for favourable coverage.
  • Any sponsored, paid or partner content is clearly labelled as such. We do not publish paid coverage without disclosure.
  • Advertisers and affiliate partners have no control over our editorial content and do not review articles before publication.
  • Where affiliate links appear, they are disclosed in line with our disclaimer.
  • We do not provide betting tips or gambling advice.

Use of AI Tools

We believe in being transparent about how our content is made. Some SportsFlux content may be researched or drafted with the help of AI tools. These tools can help us organise information, summarise sources and produce first drafts more efficiently.

AI tools do not replace editorial judgement. All AI-assisted content is reviewed by our editors before publication. Our editors check facts against reliable sources, edit for accuracy, clarity and fairness, and take responsibility for what we publish. AI-assisted content is held to exactly the same standards as everything else on the Site.

Updating Content

Sport evolves constantly. Rules are amended, formats change and new regulations are introduced. Many of our guides are designed to stay useful over time, so we:

  • Review evergreen guides regularly and when significant changes occur in a sport.
  • Update content to reflect new rules, regulations and formats once they are officially confirmed.
  • Display the date a page was last updated so you can judge how current it is.
  • Remove or clearly mark content that is no longer accurate or relevant.

Fairness and Respect

We aim to be fair and balanced in our analysis. We avoid discriminatory language, do not invade the privacy of athletes or individuals beyond what is relevant to the sport, and do not publish rumours as fact.

Health and Fitness Content

Fitness and training guides are based on established principles and reputable sources. They are general information, not medical advice, and we encourage readers to consult qualified professionals before starting a new programme.

Feedback

We welcome feedback on our coverage and on this policy. If you have questions, concerns or suggestions, please email contact@sportsflux.org. To learn more about who we are and what we cover, visit our about page.
